Principal's Message

February News Letter!!

Happy New Year!!! 2011 was a great start of the “Year of Excellence”. We made progress in many areas. However, there is much room for improvement. We are tirelessly working to move our school off of probation.

Our goal is to prepare students for college and the work force. Through continued hard work and dedication this is possible. Your presence is so desperately needed. The P.A.C needs your support. They are here to help you help your student. The P.A.C. provides workshops and resources to assist you in this journey.

Teaching and learning extends far beyond the classroom. Students must complete their homework, attend tutorial services, and stay focused to remain on-track to graduate. We have provided the structure and procedures. Your reinforcement is needed at home. When students come home, ask about their day, look through their books bag, ask to see their home work, look at their grades on line, and routinely communicate with each of their teachers.

Communication is the key to success. Tell us what you need so we can assist you. We need you. Our data will only improve when accountability, commitment, and dedication become a part of our daily routine. Teachers have created lessons that prepare students to excel and demonstrate well developed skills.

Our students are the best and deserve the best. Our teachers and staff are the best and only deliver the best. Let us take the city with our great skills. It takes a great person to wear blue and gold and a greater person to be called a Wolverine. We will move one full academic level this year. Being on probation is no longer an option.

Resources and support systems are in place to support students. As you may have heard, the district is moving to a longer school day. We have met as a family and created a plan with the hearts and needs of children in mind. Next year students will have an additional class where they can receive tutorial services, study, focus on character education, plan for college/workforce, learn about careers, and spend time in social groups and clubs. Our longer school day focuses on the “whole” student.

So we can all be on the same page mark the following dates on your calendar and plan accordingly.

• January 16, 2012: No school (Marin Luther King’s Birthday)
• January 17, 2012: Submit of Longer School Day Plan
